Cool to be a Cub event, Cultra Titanica Adventure 19th May 2012. Meet Bear Grylls, mini Olympics and other events. £15 per cub. Starting at 9:30 – ending round 5 pm. Please let me know if your cub would like to attend.

This Friday the 9^th Dec 2011 will be the last Cub meeting for the year. We will be having our Christmas party, so uniforms do not need to be worn. On Sunday 11^th December 2011 we will be hosting the district Scout carol service. We would like to encourage as many Cubs to attend as possible and extend the invitation to parents, family and friends. It will start at 3pm and run for approximately an hour. Some of the Cubs will be doing readings at the service. Tea and coffee will be provided at the end of the services.

We will be kicking off the new year on the 6^th January 2012.

Cub’s investiture 2011

You are invited to the new Cub’s investiture on Friday 25th November 2011. This will be take place during the last 15 minutes of Cubs. Please arrive shortly before 8pm in order to be seated for the beginning of the ceremony.

Ardnabannon Pack weekend

Arrangements are well underway for the ever popular Cub weekend away. We have secured the date of the 11^th to the 13^th May 2012 at Ardnabannon Outdoor Education Centre near Castlewellan. This is an exciting opportunity for our cubs to take part in a variety of activities such as kayaking, canoeing, archery and bouldering, all led by the staff at Ardnabannon. All activities will be weather permitting with an emphasis on safety above all else. The total cost of the weekend will be £45 per child which will cover accommodation, meals and activities.

In order to secure your child’s place on the camp we are asking for a deposit of £10 to be paid by the end of November 2011. The balance must be paid by the end of March
2012. Although this date seems quite far off, we felt it would be helpful for parents to get this information as far in advance as possible in order to budget for this event.

Looking forward to another enjoyable camping weekend.

Cubs District Campfire

Meet at Church Hall – 6.45pm, then walk to Crawfordsburn Scout Centre via Coastal Path

Bring a small torch, strong walking shoes and waterproof coat. Hi-Vis vests will be provided to the Cubs when walking but bright coats and armbands would be useful.

Marshmallows and a stick to cook them on will be useful (but not essential) too!

Drop Cubs off at West Church as usual and pick up from Campfire Circle or Cabin at Crawfordsburn depending on weather at 9pm.

Don’t try to come all the way in by car! This is a district event and there will be around 90 cubs to be picked up all at the same time.

Sixers and Seconders’ Camp at Slievenaman Schoolhouse

We are finally set up for our first Sixers & Seconders Cub Camp in the Mournes.

The arrangements are as follows:

Meet at West Church car park at 7pm Friday 10th June to sort out lifts and repack kit into cars.

Cub sports night at Bangor Sportsplex, Ballykillaire

Cubs’ District Sports night will be held this Friday (27th May) from 6.45pm to 9.00pm at Bangor Sportsplex, Bakllykillaire.
There will be a charge of £2 per Cub (subsidised) to help with cost for facilities and equipment hire.

Please do not allow your child to bring mobile phones, ipods, games machines, or similar devices.

It has long been a tradition that Cubs bring some buns or biscuits to share with the Pack and Leaders at supper times. Please remind your child that these are better handed in to the kitchen as soon as they arrive, rather than going home as a bag of crumbs on Sunday afternoon as someone’s did last year!
